Facilities Maintenance Manager
Pet Food Express is seeking a results-oriented Facilities Maintenance Manager to lead and improve our maintenance operations for our steadily expanding stores. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, in this role, you’ll define and implement maintenance policies, hire and develop a high-performing team, and oversee the scheduling and execution of facility and equipment maintenance. You’ll also monitor productivity, ensure compliance with procedures, and use data-driven insights to enhance efficiency and support long-term operational success. Please Note: This position is a hybrid role, involving on-site work at our corporate headquarters in Concord, CA and limited travel to stores. Candidates who are fully remote or outside of reasonable commuting distance will not be considered at this time.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for hiring, training, managing, developing and evaluating a maintenance team to ensure all repairs and janitorial services, including vendor management, and store communication activities are completed with minimal errors, and on budget.
- Plan, direct, create work orders, process invoices, schedule and follow up on facility and equipment maintenance, monitors productivity and compliance through the Corrigo/CMMS platform. Supports productivity and procedural analysis, reporting, and implementing results in procedural strategy.
- Ensures all program planning tools, reporting, and schedules are executed as planned, issues are identified and fixed early, and processes are designed to minimize go-backs, and provide a high level of consistency and customer service to stores.
- Proactively monitors open work order requests and escalations, ensuring both a timely response and follow-up. Works so that services are conducted with a customer service mindset as Facilities operates as a support function to stores.
- Oversees the maintenance, repair, and calibration of all equipment used in the store, including but not limited to HVAC systems, lighting fixtures, plumbing, electrical systems, and store fixtures.
- Proactively drives of all aspects of facility maintenance, including routine inspections, repairs, and upkeep of the store premises, ensuring a clean, safe, and visually appealing environment.
- Responsible for collaborating with multiple vendors, cross-functional business partners(including Visual Merchandising, Asset Protection, Lease Administration, Store Operations, etc.) and Leadership teams (i.e., Store Managers, District Managers, Regional Directors, and Executive Leadership) to ensure the timely and accurate execution of all facilities services and projects.
- Travels to stores regularly to oversee quality, service delivery, and overall program execution
- Responsible for the ongoing development, engagement, and performance management of direct reports.
- Supports the sourcing and training of facilities vendors; manages the ongoing performance of vendors and makes recommendations on whether to keep or terminate vendor relationships based on performance.
- Contributes to routine communication and communication plans to stores during all facilities activities, including projects as needed.
- Order repair parts and conduct regular monthly fiscal DC inventory, research discrepancies.
- Support EMS/outage time changes, store hour changes, lighting schedule and HVAC setpoint adjustments.
- Coordinates after-hours emergency response as needed such as store burglar alarm, dry ice, store damage/accidents.
- Supports the Director of Facilities in the development and execution of team strategy and priorities.
- Other projects and activities as required and/or as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of maintenance management experience, preferably in a retail setting
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to successfully influence and drive results through cross-functional partnerships
- Strong customer focus. Anticipates customer needs and takes action to meet them; continually searches for ways to increase customer satisfaction and improve processes
- Strong knowledge of store operations processes, with a focus on maintenance and repair services
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
- Proficient in CMMS work order platforms such as Corrigo, Service Channel, etc. and EMS (energy management systems)

The salary range for this position is expected to be $100,000 to $112,000. Pet Food Express determines starting salary based on many factors, including but not limited to, local market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, a candidate’s actual skills and experience.
