Pet Food Express is seeking Warehouse Order Selectors that are team players and have a positive attitude to join our 197,000 sq ft. Distribution Center in Oakley, CA.

Warehouse Order Selectors ensure our Pet Food Express stores have the right inventory at the right time. Order Selectors focus on accurately selecting, preparing and staging products for shipment to stores. Reporting to the Outbound Distribution Supervisor, our Order Selectors are responsible for helping maintain warehouse operations including counting, stocking, and picking merchandise.

This role provides support in all areas of distribution by driving results through accuracy and productivity.

This posting supports current and upcoming warehouse openings specific to order selectors within the distribution center.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7am-3:30pm with ability to work OT based on business needs.

This is a non-exempt, temporary FT position. Initial hire will be through a 3rd party agency. This position may become permanent, be extended, or be cancelled at any time. Employees will be evaluated at or around minimum 30 days of employment to determine eligibility for conversion to a FT permanent position with Pet Food Express.

The starting pay rate for this position is $19.00/hour.
Employees who are converted to FT receive a pay rate increase upon conversion.

Responsibilities:
  • Pick, pack, label, shrink wrap and stage orders to ensure product is ready for shipment
  • Meet established production rates and productivity goals, including expected lines-per-hour standards
  • Maintain consistent productivity throughout shift while balancing speed, accuracy and safe work practices
  • Operate pallet jacks, RF scanners and other warehouse equipment to safely move and organize products in preparation for shipment
  • Accurately select and palletize products using secure and stable methods to minimize safety risk and product damage
  • Keep pace while order selecting, hand picking and sorting product into carts and totes  
  • Use RF scanners to verify inventory scan barcodes and ensure shipment accuracy
  • Perform inventory counts, restock products and update inventory records to maintain accurate stock levels
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damages products, equipment issues or safety hazards to supervisors immediately
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support smooth warehouse operations
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 6 months of warehouse experience preferred
  • Experience selecting large scale orders in warehouse or distribution environment and knowledge of warehouse practices and procedures preferred
  • Previous experience operating a ride-along pallet jack (walkie rider) is a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs (occasionally 75lbs) repetitively
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Must be able to reach, lift, stoop, bend and perform extensive standing and walking (including stairs) throughout shift
  • Comfortable working in an environment where there are forklifts, machinery, large trucks, and other standard warehouse equipment
  • Basic computer/technical skills to troubleshoot equipment
  • Highly dependable, strong commitment to punctuality and attendance.
  • Eagerness to learn and participate in different functions of the Distribution Center.
  • Able to communicate effectively, take direction, apply feedback and follow through.
  • Enjoys working in a team environment and is able to build cooperative, mutually respectful working relationships.
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude.
