Retail Store Manager - Antioch

Working closely with an established Store Manager and Area Managers, you’ll be charged with helping lead and grow a multi-million dollar small business; developing career pathways for your highly trained and competent sales team through hands-on training and nurturing; and ensuring guests receive a best-in-retail customer experience unique to Pet Food Express.  Our long-term success isn’t about transactions—it’s about building meaningful relationships to enrich the lives of pets and people.

What you’ll do:

  • Create lifetime customers by empowering all employees to build meaningful relationships to help customers maximize life with their pets
  • Foster a collaborative team-environment--whether it’s cleaning a dirty pet wash or pitching in on a floor reset, our store managers are never afraid to lead by example or roll up their sleeves
  • Cultivate a positive and supportive store environment where employees are excited to come to work.
  • Help hire and coach employees.  Provide professional development training and guidance to your team for personal growth and career advancement
  • Actively participate in monthly Manager Meetings at the Corporate office
  • Help with scheduling, evaluations, interviews, and other back-office stuff

What you’ll need:

  • Team-oriented leadership experience, preferably in retail or the service industry
  • A strong preference for spending time with your team and customers rather than in the back office.  You’ll spend more than 75% of your time developing your team on the floor.
  • A growth mindset, intrinsic motivation, and desire to develop a career in retail. We’re growing at 10% a year and we promote heavily from within, so we need people who can grow with us.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends regularly.
  • You’re a people-person.  Previous animal-related experience is nice to have, but we won’t hold it against you—it’s never too late to start loving pets!
