Assistant Manager - San Francisco - Stonestown

We’re looking for a driven and enthusiastic Assistant Manager. Working under the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager leads by example to make sure everything in our award-winning store runs smoothly.No specific education or pet-related retail experience is necessary (we provide extensive training), but leadership and/or supervisory experience is required. Retail and pet-related experience is a plus.

Essential Assistant Manager Job Functions

  • Provide the signature PFE customer service our customers rave about (check out our Yelp reviews!).
  • Conduct sales associate training, making sure to stay up to date on new products and services.
  • Perform store-related duties such as customer check-outs, register close-out and stock maintenance.
  • Attend regular Assistant Manager meetings at our corporate headquarters.

Assistant Manager Personal Characteristics

  • An empathetic listener who pays attention to customers and works collaboratively to find solutions to their pet problems.
  • A quantitative thinker who can manage for specific sales outcomes.
  • A supportive team manager who leads by example.
  • A pet lover who sincerely shares our passion for quality, pets and community service.

Assistant Manager Qualifications

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends regularly.
  • Reliable transportation to and from our Oakland, CA corporate headquarters.
  • Leadership experience required. Pet experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. regularly.

Pay
Pay for Assistant Managers starts at $14.50-16.25/hour

Benefits
We provide medical, dental, and vision insurance, with a modest co-payment, after 30 days of employment. Two weeks of vacation, five days sick leave, and four holiday days per year are accrued on a pro-rate basis per hour worked (based on a 40 hr work week).
